Parvin State Park Cabin Septic Replacement

Maintaining Natural Park Character

Matrix was retained by the State of New Jersey’s Department of Treasury, Division of Property Management & Construction (NJDPMC) to provide permitting, civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering services for the replacement of the existing septic systems at eighteen cabins located along the north shore of Thundergust Lake in Parvin State Park in the Township of Pittsgrove.

The existing septic systems for the cabins are malfunctioning and require replacement.  Due to the limited space and the goal of preserving the existing vegetation and forest, some of the systems were combined.  Each of the proposed septic systems will include an advanced treatment system, which is designed to remove excess nitrogen from the effluent, and a new soil replacement disposal field.  These systems require a smaller footprint for disposal and reduce the discharge of excess nutrients to the environment, allowing the park to maintain its natural character.
