NYCDEP Pumping Stations Resiliency Improvements

Flood Protection in the NYC Watershed

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) tasked its consultant team with the implementation design of flood protection at various pumping stations located in all 5 boroughs of New York City. The tasks performed by Matrix included an investigation of the subsurface conditions beneath the site to evaluate the suitability of on-site soils for support of flood protection measures at 10 pumping stations, topographic and utility surveys of each property within the project scope, and an environmental and hazardous materials investigation at each of the locations to evaluate existing contamination and hazards that would require disposal and/or abatement.
