Rejuvenating the Waterfront in Staten Island
Matrix provided environmental investigation and review services for the proposed esplanade and pier structures along the waterfront in the Tompkinsville neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. The project specifically included reconstruction of deteriorated waterfront bulkhead infrastructure, construction of a new waterfront esplanade with pedestrian circulation and passive recreation amenities, and construction of a new pier structure to create a permanent home for the NYCDOT Dockbuilders operation.
Matrix undertook required environmental review documentation in fulfillment of the requirements of NEPA and CEQR, in coordination with our project partners, including preparation of written materials, graphic production, and coordination with relevant local, New York State, and Federal agencies. Additionally, Matrix performed all environmental site investigation documentation, including Phase I ESA and Phase II ESI reporting in conformance with ASTM standards, to identify and mitigate Recognized Environmental Conditions.
