Matrix was retained to provide environmental services for the investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater at the Former Scientific Chemical Processing Facility in Newark, NJ. The site has a rich industrial history and has operated as a leather manufacturing facility, a chemical manufacturing facility, and a waste transfer, storage, reprocessing, reclamation, treatment, and disposal facility prior to being obtained by the City.

Matrix performed services utilizing grant funding from both the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF). Tasks included Remedial Investigation/Remedial Action Field Activities, Development of Site-Specific Impact to Groundwater Soil Remediation Standards, Remedial Investigation Report, Quality Assurance Protection Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Public Notification, Pre-Demolition Surveying and Sampling, Disposal of On-Site Refuse, Groundwater Investigation, Investigation Derived Waste Disposal, Updated HDSRF Grant Application, Boundary Survey, and LSRP Services
