NYCEDC Financial District & Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan
Shoreline Extension in a Critical NYC Location
Matrix is part of a multidisciplinary consulting team developing the ‘Financial District and Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan’ for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). The Master Plan will determine the design and implementation plan for a potential shoreline extension.
Matrix is providing regulatory and legislative analysis, developing strategies for approvals, and permitting pathways. Matrix is also developing the feasibility assessments focusing on incorporating and improving maritime infrastructure and assets in the potential shoreline extension project. Matrix is leading the assembly of all existing baseline data and creating a GIS data base, including current shoreline conditions, existing infrastructure, bathymetry, topography, geotechnical conditions, subsurface utilities, maritime and transportation infrastructure, historic and cultural assets, water lot lines, existing drainage network, base flood elevation data, road networks, biological resources, areas of known contamination, and more. Matrix developed multiple sea-level rise rasters, based on current and future sea-level rise scenarios to assist planning teams in developing a solution space.
