US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)

Crowninshield and Cressy Piers Replacement & Partial Seawall
Rehabilitation (2016-Ongoing)

Matrix provided structural and civil engineering, surveying, and environmental review and permitting services for the replacement of the Crowninshield Pier and the Cressy Pier, and the rehabilitation of southern sections of the seawall. Matrix completed the structural design, site survey, hazardous materials review, utilities design and evaluation of the subsurface soil conditions, prepared permit applications and submitted to regulatory agencies (NYSDEC, NYSDOS, USACE), prepared State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) documentation and conducted SHPO Section 106 Consultation. In addition, Matrix prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) guidelines.

Turnkey Environmental Services US Merchant Marine Academy (2002-2006)
Matrix was retained by USMMA to provide turnkey environmental services relative to the testing, repair, removal, replacement, installation, and upgrade of underground storage tanks (UST) and above-ground storage tanks (AST) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Matrix assisted USMMA in the development of an Environmental Management System, prepared a Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP), conducted site survey, prepared a preliminary site plan and storm sewer plan, collected air samples, assisted with an assessment of leak detection systems in USTs, assisted with maintenance and service of portable fire extinguishers, and also completed an evaluation of a vertical transportation system.
